The Boston Marathon

Today at the Boston Marathon,
It started as a peaceful day,
Some lives and innocence are gone,
As explosions took them away,

Dreamers reaching for a goal,
To finish their longest run,
Because of someone with a dark soul,
Tragedy replaced their fun,

People expected a hard day,
Filled with aches and pain,
They could stumble along the way,
Or have to run in the rain,

But no one predicted an ending,
of such a brutal and violent act,
We spend our days pretending,
Such violence isn't a fact,

But help is desperately needed,
To save us from ourselves,
A lesson should be heeded,
From how low the spirit delves.

Innocent lives are gone forever,
and many have an injured loved one,
What can we possibly endeavor,
To ensure the violence is done.
